Plug and Play y MWCC presentan Madrid Urban Tech Hub en Global Mobility Call
Plug and Play and MWCC presented the Madrid Urban Tech Hub project at the Global Mobility Call congress.
The Madrid Urbantech Hub was created with the aim of consolidating the leading position of the city of Madrid in urban solutions at an international level. It encompasses sectors such as construction, energy, mobility, sustainability, smart cities, among others. The project has the support of both the public sector, with the City Council, and large corporations such as FCC, Sacyr, ACS, Tecnalia, Roca, Cemex, Ferrovial, among others. For David Garcia Nuñez, President of MWCC ‘this project is the achievement of the multiple economic, social and strategic goals for which MWCC was born. Madrid Urban Tech Hub will position Madrid as a world reference in urban solutions, not only for its capacity and leadership but also for the public-private ecosystem created’.
This initiative will have a business accelerator for companies with a very practical approach and focused on generating impact and employment. This accelerator will complement the Madrid City Council's existing acceleration programmes and will help Madrid and Spanish startups to consolidate their position in the international market.
The Madrid Urbantech hub, which will be launched during the first quarter of 2025, will be a meeting point for all the agents of the ecosystem where large corporations will play a very important role in the launch and definition of challenges as well as in the integration of technologies and use cases of the participating startups and in the development of proofs of concept. For Borja Aznar, Managing Director of Plug and Play Spain, ¨This project represents a fantastic opportunity for Madrid, and for Spain. Madrid Urban Tech Hub will consolidate the city as a global benchmark in urban solutions, and this public-private collaboration format that supports it is something that Plug and Play has been promoting and leading on a large scale with almost 70 programmes of this nature internationally.¨
