MWCC and Madrid Excelente successfully conclude the toy donation campaign
Madrid Excelente and MWCC have celebrated their first Christmas solidarity campaign with the delivery of 300 toys that will be destined to children with cancer located in the Ronald McDonald Houses in Madrid and Valencia (with special attention to the children in Paiporta).
Representatives of Madrid Excelente and MWCC together with entities such as MTP Foundation, Novo Nordisk, HP, Clínica Dental Las Aguas, La Torre Ciudad del Conductor, GFT IT Consulting have gone to the Ronald McDonald House in Madrid, located next to the Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús.
The event began with a guided tour of the facilities of this space and attendees such as the manager of the Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús, Julio Zarco, the president of MWCC, David Garcia Nuñez, as well as the director of Madrid Excelente, Elena Mantilla, who were guided by the general director of the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation, José Antonio García.
All of them saw first-hand the commitment and work of this Foundation with hospitalised children and their families. They also heard testimonies of those who face the difficulties that exist in the illness of a child, often far from home.
The commendable work of the Ronald McDonald House of Madrid
Since 2015, the Ronald McDonald House of Madrid, the largest in Spain, has been supporting these people in a space with capacity for 30 families. At the time, it was the Community of Madrid that ceded the land to make possible a project that is a great relief for many people who need specialised treatment. It has a surface area of 3,000 square metres where it attends to families from all over the country who need referral hospital treatment in the capital.
This event highlights the importance of collaboration between public institutions, companies and foundations to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. During the visit, the attendees were shown the spaces and the work carried out by the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation to support families with hospitalised children during such a difficult time as a child's illness. They were particularly interested in meeting the families and asking about their treatment and progress, and learning about the complex situation of these families who have the difficult task of caring for their children away from home.
