MWCC will participate in the National Congress on Photocatalysis 2024: ‘Towards Sustainable Habitability’ to be held on 25 and 26 November at the Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos in Madrid. This event, which has the support and funding of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, will bring together national and international experts in photocatalysis, a key technology for improving air quality and promoting sustainability in sectors such as transport, building, health and the energy industry.
This year's edition will be held over two full days, enabling the meeting and collaboration between the Public-Private Collaboration Working Groups, articulated through the Photocatalysis Technology Platform and dependent on the State Research Agency.
Main applications of photocatalysis in Spain:
- 30% of the pavements of the Madrid City Council's asphalt operation.
- Future pavements in Alcobendas
- Transport infrastructures, such as the C-31 motorway and the A-31 dual carriageway.
- Improved road safety on various pavements
- Five buildings on Madrid's Gran Vía
- Health centres, applied for virus and bacteria abatement
- Photovoltaic installations to optimise electricity generation
In addition, the Congress will include a Science Workshop ‘Light and Action’, designed to bring photocatalysis closer to both society and companies. 10% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Mari Paz Jiménez Casado Foundation, in support of cancer research (sarcoma).
