MWCC and DS Ranking present the second edition of the World Quality of Life in Cities Ranking

For the second consecutive year, MWCC and DS Ranking have published the ‘World Cities Quality of Life Ranking 2024’, a comprehensive analysis that evaluates the best cities in the world to live in. Based on data from NUMBEO, the world's largest collaborative quality of life database, this study includes 200 cities and assesses key indicators such as housing, environment, mobility, economy, employment, health, safety, education, leisure and sport, among others.
In this edition, Northern European cities have once again consolidated their top positions, with The Hague leading the ranking with 229 points, followed by Luxembourg, Rotterdam, Copenhagen and Geneva. In addition, there was a general improvement in the quality of life in 185 of the 200 cities evaluated, reflecting a positive trend at a global level.
On the other hand, major economic centres such as New York, Madrid and Porto have recorded declines in their rankings compared to the previous year, due to factors such as the rising cost of living and mobility problems. In contrast, Australian cities have experienced significant growth, with Brisbane moving up from 56th to 7th place and Adelaide entering the top 10.
The ‘World Ranking of Quality of Life in Cities 2024’ reaffirms the importance of sustainable and equitable urban development and its direct impact on the lives of millions of people around the world. From MWCC as well as from the public-private business ecosystem generated, we are working to ensure that Madrid continues to lead the main international rankings of urban quality of life, thus responding to our raison d'être: Madrid and its citizens.
