MWCC participates in the launch of the ECONOVA-MSC HUB: an Innovation Ecosystem in Circular Economy for Construction

MWCC has participated in the presentation, by the Spanish Construction Technology Platform
(PTEC), of the HUB ECONOVA-MSC, an innovative circular economy ecosystem designed to transform the construction sector through sustainability, technology and interdisciplinary collaboration. This initiative, subsidised by the CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) as part of the 2024 Innovation Ecosystems Programme, seeks to promote the adoption of sustainable solutions and improve the competitiveness of the sector.
The Hub was presented at the Agustín de Betancourt Foundation, located at the School of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, an emblematic space for innovation in infrastructure and sustainability.
The event was attended by prominent figures from the academic, business and institutional spheres, who underlined the importance of moving towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly construction model.
The objectives and strategic lines of the ECONOVAMSC HUB were presented, a physical and digital platform where companies, start-ups, technology centres, public administrations and universities will collaborate to develop and test innovative solutions that reduce the environmental impact of the sector.
Main Lines of Action
The ecosystem is structured around five fundamental strategic lines:
1. Creation of a collaborative space to strengthen interaction between the different agents in the sector.
2. Transfer of knowledge through the identification and dissemination of success stories.
3. Prospecting for new technologies and trends, in line with European regulations.
4. Training and capacity building, promoting courses and mentoring for start-ups and SMEs.
5. International expansion and relations with public administrations, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the project.
The first actions planned include the launch of a digital platform, the organisation of networking and training events, and the implementation of demonstration projects that will enable the validation of new technological solutions in the sector.
With the launch of ECONOVA-MSC, Spain is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable innovation within the construction sector. This initiative not only strengthens the competitiveness of national companies, but also responds to global challenges in terms of resource efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint.
