MWCC participates in Planet25

MWCC has participated in Planet25, a meeting led by the Community of Madrid and that has been developed in IFEMA on 15 and 16 February 2025, forming a point of reflection and innovation that brought together leaders, experts and visionaries of the Madrid and Spanish business ecosystem. Planet 25 has been a meeting point to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing Madrid in the 21st century.

A meeting in which MWCC has set out its firm commitment to the urban future of the capital. MWCC has generated an enriching debate on projects that have a real impact on the lives of citizens and the development of the city.

‘Thanks to projects that inspire and excite, we are building a better city for everyone. Madrid is not only evolving, it is becoming an international benchmark in innovation and urban sustainability’, said MWCC President David García Núñez.

MWCC structured three round tables, each focusing on key aspects of urban development.

The roundtable ‘Madrid's major urban developments’, moderated by David García Núñez, President of MWCC, explored the main urban projects that are transforming Madrid: Luis Roca (President of Valdecarros) presented the progress of Valdecarros, one of the largest residential developments in Europe. Miguel Hernández (Business Development Director, Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte) presented the details of the emblematic Madrid Nuevo Norte project. Ramón Cubián, Director General of Land, Community of Madrid, provided a strategic vision on urban planning in the region.

The panel ‘Innovation and sustainability in urban solutions’, moderated by David García Núñez addressed how innovation and sustainability are shaping the cities of the future; Tatiana Martínez, Director of the Innovation Lab of the Community of Madrid, highlighted the important role of the Urban Solutions Lab; Patricia Álvarez, Advisor of the Danish Embassy in Spain, shared international perspectives from Denmark, a leading country in sustainability; Xaver Gil (Veolia) and Manuel Pérez Romero Director of the IE Architecture Lab, analysed practical solutions for efficient urban management.

The panel ‘Mobility, energy and water: the inputs of cities’, moderated by José Luis Moreno, Director of EY, focused on the key resources that drive urban life; Alberto Poza, Director of Finance and Strategy, EMT Madrid, spoke about the challenges and advances in sustainable mobility in public transport in Madrid; Alberto García Casas, head of Smart City at Iberdrola, presented

cutting-edge energy solutions for a greener city; Camile Degardin (Veolia) highlighted innovative technologies in energy management.

MWCC and its partners have demonstrated that urban projects can be drivers of real change, improving the quality of life of citizens and placing Madrid at the forefront of urban solutions worldwide.
