Madrid is consolidating its position as one of the main European and global economies. This was made clear at the round table ‘Madrid: dimensions, challenges and opportunities’, organised by Economía Digital, in which MWCC participated together with leading experts from the sector, as part of the day called Madrid Global Capital, which debated the future of the Madrid region.

The meeting, which was attended by the Director of Strategy and Corporate Development of Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte, Miguel Hernández, and the Director of Construction of Copisa, José Enrique Hernádez, discussed the role of Madrid as an economic engine not only nationally, but also internationally.

The latest Eurostat figures (2021) confirm the rise of the Madrid metropolitan region as the second largest economy on the continent, with a GDP of 237,540 million euros, placing it between London (563,711 million) and Dublin, which has seen accelerated growth due to its attractive tax regime for technology multinationals. This growth reinforces Madrid's position as a benchmark in Europe and places it in direct competition with other major global cities such as Miami and Istanbul.

At regional level, the Region of Madrid ranks fifth on the European scale with a GDP of 261,713 million euros in 2022, surpassing capitals such as Berlin, Munich and Milan. This evolution underlines the potential of the region and the need to continue developing strategies that strengthen its competitiveness and attractiveness for investment.

From MWCC, we reaffirm our commitment to the development and consolidation of Madrid as a first class economic and urban reference. We are the collaborative ecosystem on which to rely to design the future of the capital, promoting innovation, sustainability and cooperation between key players in the sector.
